Council Philmont Trek

WHAT IS PHILMONT?

Philmont is BSA’s premier High Adventure base. It encompasses 214 square miles of rugged wilderness in northern New Mexico. Scouts backpack between program areas and participate in a variety of programs. Typical backpacking mileage for a 12-day trek like ours is 75 miles.

TRIP DETAILS:

DATE: July 17 – July 30, 2019
COST: Approximately $1800
Flight will be Oakland to Albuquerque, NM

PREPARATION:

Jan-Mar 2019: Two or so crew meetings
Apr 13-14: Backpacking campout
Jun 22-23: Backpacking campout

Submit $200 deposit check (refundable if not selected) payable to “Piedmont Council BSA” with Philmont Deposit on the memo line. Mail or drop off check at:

Fee Schedule:

*All payments can be made by check to Piedmont Council BSA. Any payments made by credit card are charged a 3% fee.

Initial Deposit $200

Second Payment $500 due by 2/15

Third Payment $500 due by 3/15

Fourth Payment $500 due by 4/15

Final Payment of remaining cost (approximately $100) due by 5/15

Scouts will be selected based on backpacking experience, physical fitness, good attitude, and ability to participate in preparation hikes/campouts.
Adults will be selected based on need and availability; priority will go to scouts if possible
