With fun and discovery at every turn, Cub Scouting provides a foundation youth can stand on to embrace opportunity, overcome obstacles and make new discoveries. Adventure awaits!
Join the Adventure
Families carve out time for Cub Scouting because it provides opportunities for their sons and daughters to explore the outdoors, engage in the community, and develop life skills and interests, all while having FUN! Cub Scouts earn recognition while doing activities that encourage self-responsibility, confidence, and willingness to help others. Get to know your child’s friends and their families as part of a den made up of similar aged and gendered kids. Having separate Dens allows girls and boys to learn and grow at the pace that is unique to their development. Anyone, including those who attend school outside Piedmont, is welcome to join.

Things We Do
A SAMPLING OF FUN SCOUT ADVENTURES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR…
Explore new trails, discover creatures big and small, pitch a tent, use a compass, cook over an open fire, and play in the great outdoors with your friends and family. Cub Scouts are a part of multiple activities throughout the year, including:
Family Highlander Hikes
Experience the wonders of the Bay Area with other Cub Scout families. Come on short outings and events, hikes and campouts, and serve the community, all at a wide variety of places every month of the year! For the schedule of events running from Fall ’24 – Summer ’25, click HERE.
Webeloree
Cub Scouts sharpen their skills and have fun outdoors at this September overnight. Kindergarteners – 3rd Graders come with their parents Fri – Sat; Webelos and Arrow of Light Cubs and their parents attend from Sat – Sun.
Twilight Camp
Three evenings of adventure by lantern light designed for Kindergarten through 3rd Graders and an adult partner! Enjoy crafts, games, making (and eating) festive treats, and building sailboats to race in the rain gutter regatta! Takes place in October the week before Halloween around the Piedmont Community Hall.
Scouting for Food
Cubs take part in community service by spreading awareness of our annual Scouting for Food drive, in partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, by distributing door hangers across Piedmont.
Tree Lot Fundraiser
Cubs and parents work alongside older Scouts to sell trees, hone your sales skills, and spread holiday cheer at our annual Scout Tree Lot, Piedmont Council’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Pinewood Derby
Create lasting memories building your dream racing machine and compete in this long-standing tradition held every February. Attend the open house practice race the weekend before to hone your creation before going for gold on race day!
Bike Fest
Hosted in partnership with the Post 911 Explorers (a Scout program) and the Piedmont Police Department, this fun morning has Cubs riding on bikes through an adventurous obstacle course, testing their speed, and making a smoothie on a bike powered blender.
Cub Scout Day Camp
A week of sports, crafts, scout skills, cooking and more for all rising 1st to 5th Graders. Camper’s families join us Friday for our traditional egg drop, with assistance from the Piedmont Fire Department. Camp is in mid-June at Dracena Quarry Park. Sign-ups open through Piedmont Rec Department April.
Archery Day
Come to Camp Herms to learn range safety and put your Archery skills to the test at our Archery Day event. Parents are welcome to join the shoot and go for the bullseye!
Fun with Friends
Cub Scout dens are grade specific, led by trained adults and meet every other week for about an hour. Games, learning-based activities, outdoor adventures and field trips make these meetings one of your child’s favorite activities. Cub Scout Packs (all dens together) meet once a month to showcase activities and receive awards, and several times a year they participate in a community service project.
Anyone is welcome to join any Pack, not just those who attend Piedmont schools. Learn More About the Packs Here.

Our Volunteers
The Piedmont Council is fortunate to have dedicated staff and over 150 trained volunteers responsive to the needs of our youth, both boys and girls, aged 5-18. With their help, we continue to provide safe and relevant programs through Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, coed Venturing, coed Explorers and coed Sea Scouts.
