December Highlander Hike

Find a hidden gem of a trail not too far away from your home. December’s Highlander Hike comes from the publication Secret Stairs East Bay by Charles Fleming. After scouring the East Bay’s over 400 paved pathways, Fleming designed individual hiking loops that link multiple staircases into a book of 38 picturesque and storied hikes. We’ve chosen Walk #26; Trestle Glen and Lakeshore Highlands hike. This is a fairly easy walk through historic Oakland Hills neighborhood filled with stately homes, filled with charming views and some surprising greenway trails. The book is a must have for any Bay Area hiker. But if you cannot go to your local bookstore to make the purchase, we will have printouts of the hike and you can contact Ellen at [email protected] for a PDF.
