Troop Open Houses – 2025

In Council News, Troop Open House

Which Troop Will YOU Choose?

While lots of people know about Piedmont’s great school district, many are unaware that the Piedmont Scout Council is consistently ranked the best in the entire United States, with nearly 20% of local kids participating. It’s unheard of that a community this small would have five thriving Scout Troops, but we do.

March 2025 Open Enrollment for 5th Grader Girls & Boys (and up)

Most girls and boys begin the journey to becoming an Eagle Scout in March of 5th grade (though new Scouts ages in 6th-10th grade are welcome!). While some new Scouts have been part of the Cub Scout program, most new members (and parents) have no experience with Scouting. To help you understand the program and which troop to join, we are offering the following this year:

General Parent Information Sessions:

Parents interested in getting an overview of the program are invited to attend one of several general Information Sessions. Come learn about Scouting’s relevance in the modern world, how the integration of girls is going (spoiler – terrifically! We’re already ⅓ girls after just a few years), how Scout Troops are different from Cub Scout Packs, and how to select the right troop for your family.

2/11 – School 1 Coffee Talk – TBD
2/12 – School 2 Coffee Talk – TBD
2/13 – School 3 Coffee Talk – TBD
2/X – Nighttime Zoom info session open to all

Troop Open Houses:

Then in March, each of our five troop offers a nighttime Open House for prospective girls and boys and their parents. While there are lots of great things that all the troops have in common, visiting all five will allow you to learn more about what makes each one unique. The soft deadline for deciding which troop is for you is March 22, though you can take more time to decide if needed.
