Sidney C. Singer Award

The Sidney C. Singer Service to Youth Award recognizes a dedicated Piedmont volunteer who exemplifies the Council’s mission to provide exceptional and inclusive programs to girls and boys in Piedmont and surrounding communities. Piedmont Council’s positive youth development programs are designed to incorporate life-skills building experiences, youth leadership opportunities and positive long-term relationships with adult mentors.

The award was named in honor of Sidney Singer, who served Piedmont youth continuously from the 1950s until his death in 1985. He served in a variety of capacities, including as Scoutmaster of Troop 11, a merit badge counselor, a member of the Piedmont Council Executive Board, and a founder of the Piedmont Council Tree Lot. His dedication to the community was an inspiration.

This award recognizes a Piedmont adult volunteer’s extraordinary service to Piedmont youth over an extended period of time, including during the past year. The recipient need not have been involved in Scouting. Recipients are dedicated to helping young people grow in positive ways by demonstrating and nurturing character, caring, connection to community, competence, and confidence.
