Troop 1 Goes to YosemiteBoy Scout News—October 18, 2014

Troop 1 knows Dutch Ovens, Yosemite waterfalls, and How-to-Clean-a-Fire-Pit. All this and more over the weekend of October 17, 18, 19. Twenty eight Scouts and ten Adults participated in this much cherished, annual outing. Yes the water flow was low, but the climb to the top of Vernal Falls was still 5 miles and a 2,500' vertical climb. All hands made it to the top, then rushed down to fire up the Dutch Ovens. Three Stews, and a Spicy Chili filled our tummies, but a Chocolate Fondue and Peach Cobbler satisfied the sweet tooth. No "Close Encounter" of the Bear kind, but caution and cleanliness were the name of the game. Our thanks to Troop Parents Kellianne Parker, Ondrea Riley, and the Yosemite Institute for helping make this weekend happen. November will find Troop 1 at Moaning Caverns.
