Additional Information

One of Piedmont’s most enduring family traditions continues with the opening of the Scout Tree Lot on Saturday, November 28th at 9 AM. Started in 1966 by Piedmont Scout Troop 6 in the Corpus Christi parking lot, the Piedmont Council soon embraced the concept and expanded the operation to meet the Christmas tree needs of the Piedmont, Montclair and Crocker Highland families.

An East Bay tradition for 49 years, the lot boasts a great selection of freshly cut, high quality trees, garland and wreaths, and is staffed by enthusiastic Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Co-Ed Venturing crew members and adult volunteers. Back by popular demand, tree deliveries will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends, for an additional fee. Services provided by Tree Lot volunteers include tree stand applications, fresh cuts, netting, & loading your tree.

Come early to find an impressive display of fresh Noble firs, Douglas firs and the hard-to-find Silvertip trees, in addition to a variety of elegant wreaths, garland, and ornaments sold by the Piedmont Community Service Crew, the largest of several co-ed Venturing crews supported by Piedmont Scouting.

The yearly fundraiser has grown into a family and Scouting tradition with Scouts and volunteers organizing, managing and delivering trees. As John Stewart, former adult coordinator of the Tree Lot, notes: “the tree lot provides important lessons to Scouts, such as responsibility, showing up on time and enthusiasm. Our kids also learn about getting along with people — in this case the customer — teamwork, working towards the same goal and having fun with what they’re doing.”

Proceeds from the tree lot generate a significant portion of the operating budget of the Piedmont Council BSA, supporting youth activities year-round in the community.
